Lunch with Merkle

17 August.  Got up showered and thought about shaving.  Bob Merkle stopped by about 1000 and took me out for Chinese lunch.  Then on the way back, he stopped at Starbucks.  Oh yes.  I miss that Starbucks close by.  Got back to the place and Vio, the manager of the place I am staying at, drafted me for a project to get a facility ready for a clinic on Saturday.  Moving tables, transporting equipment, etc.  We worked for about an hour.  I could not keep up with her, but did a little to help.  She brought me back just in time for dinner.  Hehe.  Now trying to update the blog.

Becca and Taylor Ann

On 15 Aug, 2012 I woke up, showered and shaved.  Wow, that doesn't happen often.  Still working on my record keeping, so this blog is out of sink by a day.  On her way home from work, my daughter, Rebecca stopped by to help me with my computer.  She then took me to Starbucks for a coffee and then we picked up Taylor Ann at the daycare.  What fun.  Then we headed back to my place.  It was a wonderful surprise.  It is always wonderful to see those two ladies.  Here is a picture of them I took at the wedding last weekend. 

August 16th John Danell picks me up and takes me to a restaurant to join the PD retirees lunch which is held on a recurring basis.  It was great to see everyone.  I actually remembered everyone, but then we PD types were unforgettable.  Hehe.  So what is PD?  Government ease for Production Division.  That goes back a few years.  I had a great time.  Good seeing everyone.  When I grow up, I would to be like Arlin and live in a community with a golf course very close and a golf cart in the garage.  When I was working, I always wanted to be like Arlin.  You all looked great.  It was wonderful seeing you al.  Dick LHeureux took me back to my place.    Thanks Dick, you haven't aged a day since work.  You all take good care.  Ok, just in case you don't remember all of the handsome PD guys, here is a clue  L-R  Rust, Gunderson, Vercammen, Lheureux, Danell, Lang, Fretwell

Driving Range

Morning of the 14th of August.  Phil Smith stops by to take me to the driving range to hit a bucket of balls.  Phil said that I did ok, except for my first hit where I pulled my left foot out a little bit.  Ok, who doesn't do that once in a while.  Had a great time.  The picture attached is from a while back, but not too far back.  I am the one on the right.  Thanks Phil. 

August 15th, 2012

I went over to stay at my sisters house on 7 Aug .  Family Schmatz , Thomas and Corinna, with children Jonathan and Luisa, long time friends from Germany were staying there.  They live in Haibach which is east of Frankfurt, Germany.  They are wonderful and the kids are great.  I went with them all last summer and we hiked down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and stayed overnight in a cabin.  It was awesome.  We saw many great places and got lots of vitamin D.  After the wedding, they are all going to do the Grand Canyon hike again, except this time, they will hike down from the North Rim, stay one night and hike out the South Rim.  Then they will go hike Half Dome in Yosemite.  WOW!!!  We all had a great visit.  Then on Friday, my sister’s daughter’s wedding rehearsal and dinner were held.  And then, and then the wedding was held the very next day.  What fun.  I did not know that Ken could be dressed up that well.  Great job Ken.  I for one think that the wedding was perfectly executed.  The hard work by my sister and her husband and all, really came through.  A good time was had by all.  My cousin Kathryn, who had driven my mother up for the wedding,  kindly took me back to my place after the wedding.  Sis, thank you so much for the great week.  I know you worked hard in preparing for the wedding and it really showed.  Awesome.  I took just a few pictures with my cell phone.  So without further ado, here are the newlyweds (Shelley and Brad), who are in Hawaii as we speak.  Love to you all.

July 25:  Heath drops by in the morning and takes me for a mile walk.  Heath is doing a great job of getting me out to exercise.  HeI knows that I love it so.  Thanks son, I do appreciate it.  Love you.  Following lunch Phil Smith drops by for a visit, followed by John Danell .  It was a fun afternoon.

July 26:  Get up and shower and shave.  I feel like a new person.  Bob Merkle picks me up after breakfast to head to the DCMA picnic.  We arrive at 5 Mile Lake Park about 1000.  See a lot of old friends and then I saw young Rnita, she looks great.  Had a great time.  Then Bob takes me to my Memory therapy Dr Jennifer Guidry .  My son Heath and my sister Nancy meet us there.  Bob has been so supportive of me during this time.  Thank you Bob, I do appreciate it.  Dr Jennifer completed her assessment and we scheduled my first appointment in August. Heath drives me back to my place.   Had a great day.

July 27:  Get up and have breakfast.  Blood pressure a little high, so they took me off of coffee.  Lol.  My friend Wanda stops by and takes me out to Subway for lunch followed by Starbucks .  Hehe.  It was so nice of Wanda to stop since she and Carl are in the middle of a major move from Tri-cities to Seattle.   My friend Amy stops by for a visit later in the afternoon.  Had a great visit.  Amy is an amazing woman.  Had a great day.

July 28:  Get up, shower and shave.  I better stop showering so much, they might come to expect this kind of behavior!  My sister Nancy and her husband Ken stop by and take me for a walk.  Great to get outside for exercise.  About 10:30 John Danell stops by and takes me to the British car showing.  Dave Lang has his 1974 Jensen Interceptor on display.  Had a great time walking around and viewing all of the British automobile.  Dave’s looked the best by far!!  John brings me home about 1430 hours.  John, thanks for a fun day. 

July 29:  Get up about 0800 and have breakfast.  About 1030, Becca and Taylor pick me up and we go to Renton River Days.  Watched Taylor play for about 3 hours.  What fun!  Becca brings me back home about 1330.  What a great day.

July 30:  Spent the day at home.  Pretty quiet except for the Music Man as I call him.  A musician brings his guitar and sings for us every 1-2 weeks.  He is really quite good.  He played from 11-12.

July 31:  woke up about 0800.  Showered and shaved.  Spent a quiet day around the place.  1900-2000 Becca stopped by for a visit. 

Aug 1:  Woke up at about 0800 and then took a nap at 1200 hours.  At 1230 my sister and mother take me out to lunch.  We went to Denney’s and then to Starbucks.  They bring me home at 1400.  Thanks Sis for bringing mom from Tumwater up for lunch.  That was fantastic.  Love you.  About 1630 Matt and Taylor stop by and pick me up.  This is my first ride in Matt’s new Mustang.  Wow, it is a going concern.
